CREATE DIAMONDS

The next step is to identify and document problems with interactions and create diamonds to mark the problem Event Block or link.

Create new Diamonds

Create a Diamond tag after a problem, hazard, need or opportunity for improvement has been defined by the investigators or analysts, using MES Rules and Guidance.

Select an EB or link and click on Diamond icon in Tool Bar.

A Diamond with a red border and the next consecutive Diamond number will appear to the right of EB if attached to an EB, or above or below the EB if tag is attached to a link.

The Problem Panel in the Diamond Inspector window will also appear, ready for data entry.

Record problems

The Problem Panel displays the Event Block or link data to which the Diamond tag is attached.

  1. Place the cursor in the Analyst text box, and

  2. enter the name of the analyst who defined the problem or need
  3. Tab to the next text box and enter the file ID.
    • If more Diamonds will be added to the same file, these entries can be set as the default entries by clicking on the Make Default box to the right of the text boxes.
  4. Tab or Move the cursor into the Problem box, then

  5. enter the draft problem statement text.
    • For assistance with this task, see the Recommendation Tutorial in the Help Menu.
  6. After entering the problem statement, move the cursor into the first evaluation text box below the problem statement thene

  7. enter the desired data.
  8. Tab to the next text boxes and enter desired data.
    • If using the default measures, and you want to print out a sheet with the matrixes and criteria, click here and print the displayed page from your browser.
  9. Review entries, and when satisfactory, press Return key save your entries.

Check Diamond Status

Default borders for new Diamonds are red, indicating the problem statements and recommendations are DRAFTS, to be edited, updated, assessed or otherwise completed. A red bordered diamond indicates an unfinished investigation task. A black-bordered diamond indicates the analysis is complete.

Users should check the Matrix for red-bordered Diamonds, and complete the analysis, or be prepared to explain why any red-bordered diamonds are not fully analyzed and remain as drafts.

Change Diamond status

To change the Diamond status,

  1. select the red bordered diamond,
  2. open the Inspector (command+i),
  3. then click on the FINAL button in the Diamond Panel.

The border of the selected Diamond turns to black
