Mental Movies

The second main tool is the Mental Movies tool. A mental movie is the investigator's visulaization of the process being investigated. Investigators make mental movies frame by frame as they learn what happened.

This tool promotes the use of concrete actor names and actions, instead of abstract or ambiguous names and actions. Mental Movies also help investigators organize their investigation efforts and data by providing an easily employed structure for their tasks, with support from INVESTIGATION CATALYST., and arrange the actions in their proper sequence.

Mental movies also provide an informal quality assurance check: If you can't visualize the action, you need to get additional information needed to enable you to do so.
